چکیده

The background and purpose Diastolic and systolic heart failure (DHF and SHF) are the different clinical subsets. Because many heart failure patients have sleep apnea syndrome (SAS), oxygen supply improves the patient’s prognosis. Thus, the purpose of this study was to compare the effects of oxygen treatment for premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) suppression in patients between DHF and SHF. Methods and subjects Patients with heart failure (BNP>80 pg/ml), SAS (AHI> 5) and frequent PVCs (>30/h) were admitted to the hospital for at least 2 consecutive nights. On the first night, the respiratory and Holter monitoring was performed without nasal oxygen treatment; the same monitor with nasal oxygen therapy (3 L/min) was performed on the second night.

Oxygen therapy prevents ventricular arrhythmias in patients with congestive heart failure and sleep apnea.

BACKGROUND Although ventricular arrhythmia is critical for the prognosis of patients with severe congestive heart failure (CHF), it is difficult to control the arrhythmia using conservative therapies. However, many CHF patients also have sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) and oxygen supply improves their prognosis. The beneficial effects of oxygen treatment for ventricular arrhythmia have not yet been ...

CPAP should not be used for central sleep apnea in congestive heart failure patients.

399 B oth sleep apnea and congestive heart failure are common disorders. However, systolic heart failure appears to be the most common cause of central and perhaps obstructive sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is also common in isolated diastolic heart failure and may contribute to the progression of left ventricular remodeling and perhaps play a causative role. 1,3-6 However, prevalence and...

Effects of Biofeedback Therapy on Cardiovascular and Respiratory Indices in NREM Sleep Parasomnias with Obstructive Sleep Apnea: A Case study

Introduction: Non-REM parasomnias are a relatively common condition in the general human population. Current treatment plans are usually based on small case series and reports. Considering the effects of sleep disorders on different aspects of human life and the failure of pharmacological treatments in this field, the present study was designed to investigate a case of this sleep disorders with...

Association of sleep-disordered breathing and ventricular arrhythmias in patients without heart failure.

The prevalence and characteristics of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in patients with ventricular arrhythmias, such as premature ventricular complexes and ventricular tachycardia, are unknown. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of SDB in patients with severe ventricular arrhythmias and normal left ventricular (LV) function. Thirty-five patients (63% men, mean age 5...
